We are pleased to announce that Prof. Leszek Sosnowski, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University, has been appointed President of the Cracow Branch of the Polish Philosophical Society.
The meeting of the Krakow Branch of the Polish Philosophical Society was held on 08.01.2024. Prof. Leszek Sosnowski was elected for a four-year term. He succeeded Prof. Dr. Justyna Miklaszewska in this position.
The current Polish Philosophical Society combines the traditions of several scientific societies. Foremost among these is the Polish Philosophical Society, established in Lvov, but bringing together members from all parts of Poland; this society was inaugurated on 12 February 1904.
The Polish Philosophical Society carries out its tasks by:
a) giving scientific and popular science lectures,
b) holding scientific and discussion meetings,
c) organising scientific congresses,
d) maintaining libraries of philosophical works and works helpful to the study of philosophical sciences,
e) publishing activities,
f) representing the needs of the philosophical sciences to the authorities and the public,
g) participation in the work of international institutions for the cultivation and promotion of the philosophical sciences.
