Conference "The European Union and World Order"

We invite you to participate in the next conference on the European Parliament Elections 2024 organized within the framework of the European Parliament Elections 2024 Awareness Campaign, led by the Institute of Public Policy.

2024 is a year that is packed with elections. April and May will see the largest general elections in the world's largest democracy, India. In June, there will be elections to the European Parliament. In November, meanwhile, the election of the President of the United States of America will be held for the 60th time in history. These events will become a cause for consideration of the problems of the modern world, relations between the global south and north, migration, ongoing conflicts and the role of the European Union in the international arena of a changing world.

Speakers Panel I:

- Jan Truszczyński - lecturer at the Vistula Academy of Finance and Business and the Polish Institute of Diplomacy. Ambassador Truszczyński's professional career is related to the European Union: he was a specialist in European integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1982-1988), Deputy Ambassador of the Polish Representation to the European Communities (1989-1993), Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU (1996-2001), Presidential Advisor on EU Affairs (2001). From 2001 to 2005, he was the chief negotiator for Poland's EU membership and, successively, Undersecretary of State and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2007 to 2014 he held senior positions in the European Commission. He was successively Deputy Director General at DG Enlargement and DG Education and Culture, and Director General of DG Education and Culture from 2010 to 2014.

- Krzysztof Plominski - retired diplomat, ambassador ad personam, former director and two-time deputy director of the Department of Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He worked in posts in Libya, Jordan and served as Poland's ambassador to Iraq and Saudi Arabia. During his mission in Baghdad, Poland undertook to represent US interests in Iraq. Amb. Plominski is an advisor to the National Chamber of Commerce and co-founder of the Polish-Arab Initiative Foundation. He is the author of more than a dozen publications on economics and foreign policy in the Middle East region, an academic lecturer and commentator. In January 2019, he published the book "Arabia Incognita.Report of the Polish Ambassador".Amb.Plominski is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Lodz, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Hague Academy of International Law. He has been awarded the Polonia Restituta Officer's Cross, as well as Saudi and American medals.

 

Speakers Panel II:

- Piotr Klodkowski - Professor in the Centre of Comparative Studies of Civilizations at Jagiellonian University. From 2009 to 2014 he served as Poland's ambassador to India, with accreditation to Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. He is currently a member of the Asia-Pacific Council of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the journal Muslim Perspectives, published by the Muslim Institute, based in Islamabad and London. He is a graduate of the Jagiellonian University and has additionally studied at the National Institute of Modern Languages in Islamabad and at University College Cork (Ireland).

-  Bogdan Góralczyk – Professor,political scientist, sinologist, diplomat, publicist. From 2003 to 2008 he was ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of the Philippines and Myanmar (formerly Burma). Earlier, from 1991-98, he was on a diplomatic post in Hungary. He was also head of the Cabinet of the Minister of the Polish Armed Forces. Specialization: contemporary international relations, especially globalization and global challenges, China, East and Southeast Asia in the international arena, the international position of the EU and European integration, Hungarian issues. Author of many book works.

- Marek Moroń, PhD - Doctor of Sociology, lecturer at the Department of Comparative Studies of Civilizations at the Jagiellonian University, advisor, diplomat, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai (2001-2006). Member of the Board of the Joint Council of Polish Catholics and Muslims and activist of the Civic Association "Polish House". He specializes in issues concerning South Asia.His scholarly interests include issues related to nardal issues, history and contemporary nationalisms and separatisms.He has been invited with guest lectures by the Universities of Cambridge, Leicester, the University of Warsaw, the Upper Silesian School of Commerce in Katowice, among others.He is also the author of several volumes of poetry.

The conference will be moderated by Bartlomiej Malczynski - EU consultant at EUROPE DIRECT Krakow.
