Young Sociologist Congress

After a gap of five years, the Young Sociologist Congress is back in stationary form! Poland's largest and most important academic conference giving space for young social scientists to show off their research activities will take place this year for the thirteenth time in its history.

Young Sociologist Congress is a scientific conference organised by the Scientific Circle of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University in cooperation with the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University. For three days, from 12 April to 14 April 2024, the walls of the Institute of Sociology (Krakow, ul. Grodzka 52) will become a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences of students and PhD students from various research centres in Poland and abroad.

Previous editions of the Congress have shown how diverse social sciences and humanities can be represented by speakers: sociology, social anthropology, religious studies, social pedagogy, social psychology, law or political science. The papers delivered during the Congress are usually the first attempts to share the results of their research and are often also presentations of results obtained in the course of writing their theses or dissertations, thus making the Congress an opportunity to observe the first steps taken by the young generation of social scientists. The Congress is also made up of the listeners, and the scientific staff who conduct workshops and provide substantive assistance during the organisation of the event.

This year, a particularly important role will be played by the Scientific Council which, in addition to helping to put together the conference programme, will also be responsible for evaluating submitted abstracts. Members of the Council include some of the most eminent people from the world of social sciences, authors of many outstanding books and winners of many awards and prizes.

We invite you to participate, both actively and passive participation of all those interested in social issues in general. Participation in the event will certainly broaden the knowledge of each person attending and will be a source of valuable experience useful in their future academic careers.
