"Global Game and Gambling" meeting

The 112th meeting of the International History of Ideas Club, which is part of the series "Global Game and Gambling" will take place on Thursday, December 13th in the premises of the History of Ideas Research Centre of the Jagiellonian University (ul. 28 Lipca 1943, 17a, Blue Room, Laski House near Villia Decius). During the meeting the special guest, Prof. Dr Harald Schwaetzer (Institut für philosophische und ästhetische Bildung, Alanus Hochschule w Alfter bei Bonn) will deliver the lecture: "Das Globusspiel bei Nikolaus von Kues." The lecture will be followed by a discussion.

Prof. dr Harald Schwaetzer is the Head of the Chair in Philosophy at Alanus Hochschule in Alfter bei Bonn. He is a co-publisher of several journals, including: "Coincidentia. Zeitschrift für Europäische Geistesgeschichte", "Texte und Studien zur Europäischen Geistesgeschichte," and „Philosophie interdisziplinär". His research has been mainly focused on the reception of Nicholas of Cusa's thought and his relations with the German idealism. He has also studied the relationship between natural science and philosophy. Prof. Schwaetzer is also a member of the Board of "Kueser Akademie für Europäische Geistesgeschichte."

All interested persons are also invited to attend the conference "Facetten der Ideengeschichte des Spiels" / "Game and Gambling. Facets of the History of Ideas," which will be held under the auspices of the International History of Ideas Club and the History of Ideas Research Centre (of the Jagiellonian University) on December 14-15 in the Villa Decius Association building complex. On the first day of the conference (December 14), the sessions will take place in the Marcelina Czartoryska Room (first floor of Villa Decius) from 9.00 to 18.15. On 15 December the sessions will be held in the above mentioned premises of the History of Ideas Research Centre from 9.00 to 18.15.
